First of all, apologies abound for not getting a post out about Chronic Jazz Syndrome last week but ya gotta take a vacation sometime, right? Anyway, the ever present grapevine told me the  show was fabulous with a wee bit of a light turnout attributed to the coolish weather. C’mon people, we’re New Englanders! Dress the part, grab a hot coffee at the Early Bird and enjoy the free music!  I hope this heat doesn’t keep folks from showing up this week cuz that would be one heck of a mistake!  Okay, I’ve said my peace…on to business.

Ya Mon, let’s get this beach (ahem, lawn) party started!!! Finally we get some hot and spicy weather for New England’s hottest steel band who just so happens to be playing at the hottest summer concert series around! Let’s just hope the sun keeps shining for this Thursday evening with Mango Groove and opener, Amelia Hazen.  If that ole Mister Sun stays uncovered it’s gonna be a scorcher.

Alrighty then, drag yourselves away from that air conditioner for a couple hours and come get sweaty with us. This hot, sticky weather is just perfect for throwing on that Hawaiian shirt, some flip flops and dancing the night away! You can always take a shower later, right?  Summer’s short, especially this year…so don’t miss this show if you want to feel the heat.  Come all ye faithful,  saunter down to the Central School lawn, have a slice or three of pizza,  grab a cold drink and get your groove on!

And as always,  if those @#$%^& rain clouds come in again, we’ll be heatin’ things up over yonder in Town Hall.

Oh yeah, and another thing!  Don’t forget next Thursday, August 6th for the 2nd annual  Sobopalooza, South Berwick’s very own young talent music festival. This gig will run from 5pm until dark so make sure you get downtown earlier than normal so you don’t miss a single minute.  For those of you who might have to work late this may be a perfect opportunity to use the ole ” I got something in my eye and can’t see staying all day” schtick to get out early! See ya’ll there.

Where’s Waldo?

Okay, not really Waldo but Joyce Andersen and friends. Will they be on the “World Famous” Central School lawn or across the street in Town Hall? Only those unpredictable Weather Deities know for sure. One thing we can tell you though is the show will go on…rain or shine. Don’t miss tonight’s trio of Joyce, Bryan Killough on guitars and Steve Roy on bass. Be there or be square.

High Range on the Low Lawn

Week one of Hot Summer Nights brought us a truly incredible show inside the theater at Marshwood High.  The rain didn’t seem to keep people from coming out and while it would have been great to be outdoors, the smooth sounds of Dan Blakeslee and Slaid Cleaves were just sweet dancing off the walls of that fine room.  Thanks to everyone who came out and mucho, mucho gracias to all those that found some extra cash deep in their pockets to make a donation to Hot Summer Nights. We all know how hard it is to give extra these days. We really, really thank you!!!

Now on to this week…

We have some incredible bluegrass to delight your ears and get your feet moving. High Range will be our headliner tonight with James Gilmore warming up the crowd at 6:30pm.  Check for more information by clicking on “The Music Makers” link at the top of this here page.

***This just in!!!!*** After checking the forecast, it’s looking favorable that we’ll be outside on the Central School lawn tonight so bring your sunglasses, your blankets and your picnic baskets cuz we’re gonna have us a foot stompin’ good time!  See y’all there!

And remember Hot Summer Nights is a rain or shine gig so if it’s raining or looking like rain, the show will go on, just inside Town Hall across the street from Central School.  That’s what makes us so darn special!

Trouble with viewing web pages!

dunce-cap

Yikes! Okay, so it was just brought to my attention that Internet Explorer (and maybe other browsers) does not allow viewing all the content on some of the pages here on this good ole site.  Notably, “The Music Makers” and “Hey, I’m Really Lost!”.  I’ll work on this  ASAP.  Sorry about the confusion. I’m still trying to figure out all this website mumbo jumbo!

UPDATE: I managed to fix some of the problems associated with Internet Explorer but some issues are going to have to remain for now with you folks running the IE browser.  You can always upgrade to Firefox and many of your problems with this site and others will most likely disappear. You could also try upgrading to the latest and greatest version of Internet Explorer.

Feel free to leave a comment if there’s something that concerns you. All comments must be moderated first and will not be published if you ask that they not be. Thanks!

Okay, the folks at Woodstock didn’t have a choice about standing in the rain but YOU DO!!!  This rain is relentless so we’re moving the concert indoors.  Don’t forget, this show only will be at Marshwood High on Rt. 236, not the usual backup of Town Hall.   See the previous post and “The Music Makers” page above for details.  Don’t miss tonight’s performance!!!

See ya there!!!
