It’s hard to believe that tomorrow is our last concert of the year. Where the heck has the summer gone?! Ya have to admit though, we were blessed with incredible weather this year. Let’s hope we don’t take a beating come winter! Speaking of winter, it’ll be here before you know it so don’t let the last weeks of summer slip away. Bring the famdamily on down to the Central School lawn this Thursday for a picnic with Wooden Eye. You are absolutely going to love these guys! Jamie Meader will open the show.

SPECIAL NOTE: Because the darn sun is setting earlier each day, we’ve decided to start this performance 15 minutes early. Jamie will go on at 6:15 and Wooden Eye takes the stage at 6:45.

First of all, thanks to all who came down to Sobopalooza last Thursday! Hot enough for ya?!! Man, that was a steamy night in the church but all the kiddos did a great job and proved themselves as true professionals. Remember, these are the kids who will someday be our Hot Summer Nights headliners so let’s keep supporting them!

Now, what’s up this week you ask? Well, Rhythm Method takes our stage on the next to last concert of the season. Prepare yourself for some funk, rock, blues, r and b and soul. If that isn’t enough for you, I don’t know what is! These musicians will truly get you dancing so wear sensible footwear.  Jamie Meader opens the evening’s festivities at 6:30 pm.

Thanks to all that came down to the Central School lawn for David, Susie and Kent last Thursday. It was truly magical. We were blessed with another perfect evening.

This Thursday brings the third annual Sobopalooza to downtown South Berwick! This is the one HSN concert that is 100% dedicated to sharing the musical talents of our younger townsfolk. There is no headliner and no opener. They are all headliners this night! As always, it promises to be an evening full of fun and music. Don’t miss it!

SPECIAL NOTE! This concert begins at 5pm so that we can cram as much young talent on the stage as possible before we lose the daylight. As soon as it gets dark we’re gonna have to call it quits so get there early and stay until the sun goes down!

We hope everyone had a rockin’ time last week at the Slaid Cleaves show! It was a blast! And thank you for all your generous donations! It is the one concert each year that Hot Summer Nights solicits money from the audience. This money does not go to Slaid but towards paying each of our wonderful musicians and all the other costs associated with running the concert series.  We have some fantastic and generous corporate sponsors as well but without this additional money it would be very difficult for the concert series to continue. Thank again for helping out!

This week we reach the halfway mark with our 4th concert. If you haven’t stopped down to see us yet this summer, there is no time like the present. We are honored to have our friends and neighbors David Surette and Susie Burke joining us Thursday, July 29th. They are also bringing along special guest Kent Allyn to jam with them on what’s shaping up to be another perfect summer evening.  So, grab a blanket and the family and head on down to the Central School lawn for some good old fashioned fun!  The show starts at 6:30pm with Lisa Graichen and Alex Karosis opening. David, Susie and Kent take the stage at 7pm.

Okely dokely, we’ve made the official call. The Slaid Cleaves concert has been moved indoors to the Marshwood High School Auditorium @ 260 Dow Highway (Route 236) South Berwick, Maine 03908. This place has excellent acoustics, comfy chairs and a sweet vibe.  Sure, outdoors would have been nice being summer and all but hey, ya can’t win ‘em all.  Don’t miss this show with James Gilmore opening at 6:30!

This week we are giving you Thursday night off.  Nice of us, eh?  Friday however (yes, Friday) promises to bring a couple of stellar performances to South Berwick. Hometown boy, Slaid Cleaves will take the stage at Central School for what always promises to be a fantastic evening of music.  Opening for him will be James Gilmore, a recent Marshwood High graduate who’s on his way to fame and fortune as well.  As a matter of fact, listen to 92.5 The River on July 22nd at 10pm to hear James Gilmore and his band, GreenerSide, on the radio for the first time!  Or better yet, come on down to the Central School lawn on Friday at 6:30 pm to hear and see him live!!! Slaid takes the stage at 7pm!

***THIS JUST IN…If rain threatens our lovely outdoor music scene, we will move this show indoors to the Marshwood High auditorium on Rt. 236. We feel that this venue will suit the turnout expected for this particular show.  All other shows will maintain the Federated Church as our rain backup.

Today’s looking like the pick of the week, weather-wise. What better thing to do than to be hangin’ outside listening to music and watching the sun set? Won’t you join us tonight for a super-fantastic-fun-time-show? Mr. Marty England is showing up with friends, Courtney Brocks, Jesse Dold and Eric Ott to bring a little folky fun to the lawn. The show starts at 6:30 with Molly Mugford opening. Marty takes the stage at 7pm.

Okay, so figuring out how to hide last year’s posts was pretty easy (see last post if you’re confused).  If you’re into nostalgia you can still view them by going over there to the left and looking under the “Archives” section or clicking on “Older Entries” down below these posts.

Now on to the reason for this website…to promote our incredible musicians and inform you the reader, as to what’s happening and when.  It just so happens that one week from today, on July 8th we’ll be having our very first show of the season and what better way to kick it off than with a little PB & J. Heck, who doesn’t like PB & J!? I personally like it on white bread. None of that healthy stuff with nuts and oats and such. In fact Wonder bread will due just fine. But I digress. Ya’ll know I’m not talking about food. I’m talking about the luscious licks and savory harmonies of Pat, Brad and Joe. Get it? P, B & J. These guys are local favorites and play just about anything and everything that will get your toes tapping and your pearly whites showing. John Malloy will open for PB & J. So come on down and get a heapin’ helpin’!!! (Show starts at 6:30pm)

We just want to make special note of the venue change in case of the “R” word. Yes, sometimes it does rain. We’ll now be holding shows inside the First Parish Federated Church across the street from Dunkin’ Donuts, on the corner of Academy street if the skies decide to open up.
